Westbury Stud Unreserved Mixed Bloodstock Sale
4 March 2005
Westbury Stud announced this week that they will offer over 270 horses as part of an unreserved reduction sale run in conjunction with the National Weanling, Broodmare and Mixed Bloodstock Sale.
The sale is scheduled to take place two days prior to the National Weanling Broodmare and Mixed Bloodstock Sale, on Friday 6 May, beginning at 10am. Horses will be onsite from Monday 2 May and can be inspected from Wednesday.
The sale offers a fantastic selection of good quality mixed stock consisting of 82 weanlings, 39 yearlings, 42 untried horses, 4 racehorses and 101 broodmares.
Westbury's coveted stallion roster is well represented with stock by the likes of Champion Sires Kilimanjaro, Faltaat and Gold Brose and promising up-and-comers Pyrus and Cullen.
Many of the stud's broodmares will be offered in foal to these stallions and the list of broodmare sires is equally impressive. Mares by sires Bletchingly, Clever Trick, Centaine, Danehill, Kaapstad, Royal Academy, Last Tycoon and Success Express will be put up for sale at the auction.
When announcing the sale Russell Warrick, co-owner of the stud, said that "with the significant upturn in the thoroughbred industry globally and with the perfect climate New Zealand provides to breed thoroughbred horses in, Westbury Stud remains fully committed to its continued investment in the industry from its Auckland base".
