Written Tycoon Mare Highlights NZB Mixed Sessions

With the Weanling session of New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale completed earlier today, attention turned to the mixed sessions on offer, with horses-in-training, two-year-olds, yearlings, raced stock and racehorses offered through this ring this afternoon at Karaka.
With 81 lots catalogued, including 7 supplementary entries, the highlight came in the Horses-in-Training session with the four-year-old racemare Prestigious Miss fetching $80,000.
Offered by Oxford Thoroughbreds at Lot 371, the Group 2 placed daughter of Written Tycoon was purchased by Gordon Cunningham’s Curraghmore Stud for $80,000.
“She’s a lovely, quality mare with good performance, and I thought she was great value,” commented Cunningham. “She’s going to visit Pierro in the spring.”
The purchase capped off a highly successful two days for Curraghmore Stud who for the eighth year in a row was the leading vendor at the Weanling Sale. Curraghmore Stud also sold the top lot of the sale thus far with their weanling by Savabeel at Lot 304 purchased by Ascot Farm for $115,000.
The 2013 Weanling session earlier in the day saw 234 lots sold for $2,540,650 for a clearance rate of 77%. For full details click here.
In total 58 of the 81 horses on offer this afternoon sold for $277,950, at an average of $4,792 and clearance of 78% providing total turnover of $2,819,750 across the past two days of selling.
The Broodmare session will complete the three-day Sale from 10am tomorrow at Karaka (Lots 430 – 658).
