Hong Kong

Please refer to the Hong Kong Jockey Club PP/PPG Criteria for Registration of New Zealand and Australian Horses. 

The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) requires that all racehorses to be imported into Hong Kong undergo a veterinary examination for suitability for importation and submitted to the HKJC appointed veterinarian, within 30 days of entering pre-export isolation.

Pre-export Isolation: Horses are required to be in pre-export isolation, at a Government Approved Facility, at least 21 days prior to the flight.

Vaccinations: During the 90 days immediately prior to export, horse require a primary course of approved vaccinations against equine influenza comprising of at least two doses with an interval according to the terms of vaccine registration with the relevant government authority.

Tests: During pre-export isolation, horses are tested for Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA) and Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA).

Singapore

Please refer to the MRA Criteria for Registration of New Zealand and Australian Horses. Singapore Authorities stipulate that horses must be resident in New Zealand continuously for at least 3 months immediately prior to export.

Horses are required to complete a Malaysian Racing Association  Malayan Racing Association (MRA) Veterinary Certificate within 4 months of importation to Singapore. This is submitted to the MRA prior to departure. Radiographs are optional, however horses require two negative Strangles tests before travel.

Vaccinations: During the 90 days immediately prior to export, horses require a primary course of approved vaccinations against Equine Influenza and Strangles, in accordance to manufacturers recommendations. The primary course must be completed at least 21 days prior to export. 

Mares destined for Singapore must not be pregnant.

Macau
On Request

The Macau Jockey Club requires that all racehorses to be imported into Macau undergo a Veterinary Examination For Suitability For Importation and submitted to the Macau Jockey Club a minimum of 10 days and a maximum of 2 months prior to admittance into quarantine.

Pre-export Quarantine: Horse(s) are required to be in pre-export quarantine at a government approved facility, at least 21 days prior to the flight. During pre-export isolation, the horse(s) are tested for Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA) and Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA).

Malaysia

Please refer to the MRA Criteria for Registration of New Zealand and Australian Horses. Malaysian Authorities stipulate that horses must be resident in New Zealand continuously for at least 3 months immediately prior to export.

Horses are required to complete a Malaysian Racing Association (MRA) Veterinary Certificate within 4 months of importation to Malaysia. This will be submitted to the MRA prior to departure.

Vaccinations: Prior to entering pre-export isolation horses must undergo a complete course of vaccination against Strangles and Equine Influenza using a vaccine acceptable to the Malaysian Department of Veterinary Services.

Pre-export Isolation: Horse(s) are required to be in pre-export isolation, at a Government Approved Facility, for at least 14 days prior to the flight. During pre-export isolation, horses are tested for Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA).

All mares destined for Malaysia must not be pregnant.

South Korea

Pre-export Isolation: Horse(s) are required to be in pre-export isolation, at a Government Approved Facility, at least 7 days prior to the flight. Due to stringent regulations we recommend 10 days isolation to enable all blood tests to be completed prior to departure.

Tests: During pre-export isolation the horse(s) are tested for Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA) and Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA).

Residency: Horse(s) for export must have been domiciled in New Zealand since birth or for at least the previous 6 months.

Pre-export Isolation: Horse(s) are required to be in pre-export isolation, at a Government Approved Facility, at least 30 days prior to the flight. During pre-export isolation the horse(s) are tested for Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA), Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA) and Streptococcus Equi.

Vaccinations: During the first 7 days of isolation, horses are vaccinated against Equine Influenza.

Pregnant mares must not be more than 8 months in foal.

Pre-export Isolation: Horse(s) are required to be in pre-export isolation, at a Government Approved Facility, at least 7 days prior to the flight. During pre-export isolation the horse(s) are tested for Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA).

Thailand

Residency: Horse(s) for export must have been a resident in New Zealand since birth or for at least the previous 2 years. Thailand restricts the importation of horses with obvious genetic defects such as pigeon toe, undershot jaw etc.

Pre-export Isolation: Horse(s) are required to be in pre-export isolation, at a Government Approved Facility, at least 30 days prior to the flight. During pre-export isolation the horse(s) are tested for Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA).

United Arab Emirates

Vaccinations: Within 60 days of the scheduled date of export the horse(s) for export have been vaccinated against Equine Influenza. We will require at least 45 days notice to complete this.

Pre-export Isolation: 30 days immediately prior to export, the horses are isolated at a facility under veterinary supervision. Within 21 days of export the horse(s) are tested for Equine Viral Arteritis (uncastrated males only) and Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA).

China

Prior to entry into pre-export isolation, the horse(s) have been subjected to Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA) test and Streptococcus Equi swab with negative results.

Vaccinations: Within 45 days of the scheduled date of export the horse(s) for export have been vaccinated against Equine Rhinopneumonitis. A second dose of the vaccine must accompany the horse(s) for export, and will be administered in post-arrival quarantine.

Pre-export Isolation: Horse(s) are required to be in pre-export isolation, at a Government Approved Facility, at least 30 days prior to the flight. During pre-export isolation the horse(s) are tested for Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA) and Streptococcus Equi.

Tests: Prior to departures all horse(s) require tests for Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA) and Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA) within 21 days of export.

Horse(s) must have been treated with an approved long-acting broad spectrum parasiticide effective against ticks and a broad spectrum anthelminthic within 48 hours of export.

Pregnant Mares: Are not permitted to travel more than 300 days from their last date of service.

Hong Kong

The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) requires that all racehorses to be imported into Hong Kong undergo a veterinary examination for suitability for importation and submitted to the HKJC appointed veterinarian, within 30 days of entering pre-export isolation. Pre-export Isolation: Horses are required to be in pre-export isolation, at a Government Approved Facility, at least 21 days prior to the flight.

Vaccinations: During 21 to 90 days prior to departure there is a requirement that the horses have received a primary course vaccination (two vaccinations 21-28 days apart) against Equine Influenza.

Tests: During pre-export isolation, horses are tested for Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA), Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA), Piroplasmosis, Hendra, Strangles (two tests 14 days apart) and Equine Influenza (21 days apart).

Singapore

Please refer to the MRA Criteria for Registration of New Zealand and Australian Horses. Singapore Authorities stipulate that horses must be resident in New Zealand continuously for at least 3 months immediately prior to export.

Horses are required to complete a Malaysian Racing Association  Malayan Racing Association (MRA) Veterinary Certificate within 4 months of importation to Singapore. This is submitted to the MRA prior to departure. Radiographs are now optional. 

Tests: Prior to departure, all horses require tests for Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA) within 30 days of export, Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA) within 15 days of export and horses must not have been vaccinated with any vaccine within 30 days of export.

Macau

The Macau Jockey Club requires that all racehorses to be imported into Macau undergo a Veterinary Examination For Suitability For Importation and submitted to the Macau Jockey Club a minimum of 10 days and a maximum of 2 months prior to admittance into quarantine.

Pre-export Quarantine: Horse(s) are required to be in pre-export quarantine at a government approved facility, at least 21 days prior to the flight. During pre-export isolation, the horse(s) are tested for Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA) and Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA).

Malaysia

Please refer to the MRA Criteria for Registration of New Zealand and Australian Horses. Malaysian Authorities stipulate that horses must be resident in Australia or New Zealand continuously for at least three months immediately prior to export.Horses are required to complete a Malaysian Racing Association (MRA) Veterinary Certificate within 4 months of importation to Malaysia. This will be submitted to the MRA prior to departure.

Pre-export Isolation: Horse(s) are required to be in pre-export isolation, at an AQIS Australia Approved Facility at least 14 days prior to the flight.

Tests: During pre-export isolation the horse(s) are tested for Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA), Equine Morbillivirus Pneumonia (Hendra Virus) with negative results.

In the case of stallions/uncastrated males they must be tested for Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA) with negative results within 14 days of export. 

The horse(s) must have undergone a complete course of vaccinations against Strangles using a vaccine acceptable to the Malaysian Department of Veterinary Services and in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. Pregnant Mares must not exceed 240 days of pregnancy at time of export.

Enquire Pre-export Isolation: Horse(s) are required to be in pre-export isolation at an AQIS approved facility at least 30 days prior to the flight. During pre-export isolation the horse(s) are tested for Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA).
Thailand

There is no quarantine required for horse(s) prior to export to Vietnam from Australia.

Tests: Horse(s) must have been tested with negative results within 14 days of export for Equine morbillivrus pneumonia (Hendra Virus), Equine infectious anaemia (EIA) and Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA) - for entire males. Within 30 days prior to export to Vietnam horse(s) must be treated for internal and external parasites.

China

Pre-Export Isolation: Horse(s) will be held in pre-export isolation for at least 30 days prior to departure at an isolation premises approved by AQIS.

Tests: Prior to entering quarantine horse(s) should be tested for the following diseases with negative results: Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA), Hendra Virus

Equine Rhinopneuminitis (two tests at an interval of 14 days) and Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA) (two tests at an interval of 14 days).

During the quarantine period, horse(s) to be exported shall be treated against Leptospirosis with two injections of dihydrostreptomycin at an interval of 14 days.

Horse(s) for export must be vaccinated for Japanese Encephalitis using an inactivated vaccine during the quarantine period.

Please note, Pregnant Mares are not permitted to travel more than 300 days from their last date of service. We recommend pregnant mares do not travel in their last trimester.
