Big Weekend for Rock 'n' Pop & Adamantium

19 September 2011

It was a very successful week for trainer Jason Bridgman as he saw another million dollar colt in Rock 'n' Pop win his debut in the Rugby Experience Here October 23 Maiden (1200m) at Riccarton.

In a highly anticipated race debut, Rock 'n' Pop (Fastnet Rock x Popsy) came into the race after a series of solid performances at the trials where he won three in a row coming into Saturday's race.

In a big week for the Te Akau Stables, Bridgman also trains the $1.3 million colt Burgundy (Redoute's Choice) who won on debut last Wednesday at Taupo in very impressive fashion.

Like his stable mate, Rock 'n' Pop also holds a nomination for the Group 1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas on November 5 where he is currently quoted at $41 with the TAB.

Ready to Run Sale graduate Adamantium (NZ) on his way to victory

Rock 'n' Pop was bred by Barnaby & Co Ltd and is raced by the Te Akau Rock 'n' Pop Syndicate. He was purchased by Jayven See from Esker Lodge from the 2010 Karaka Premier Sale for $1 million.

The 2010 Karaka Select Sale topping colt, Adamantium (NZ) (Elusive City x Della Mimosa), a $250,000 purchase by his trainer Danny O'Brien from Haunui Farm, broke his maiden status in Caulfield in the first on the card on Saturday.

A strong individual, the colt had shown good ability in his two starts coming into Saturday's race where he was ridden by Mark Zahra, and proved too good in the $70,000 Le Pine Funerals Handicap (1100m), running the last 600 metres in 34.27 seconds to win by three-quarters-of-a-length.
