The Premier, Select and Festival Sales have a combined 1378 yearlings entered across the six days of selling, starting on Monday 25 January at Karaka.

The PREMIER SALE catalogue is the centrepiece of the week featuring top class horses and will be presenting some of the world’s best pedigrees among the 447 yearlings entered. The Premier Sale will be held on Monday 25 & Tuesday 26 January.

The SELECT SALE produced five Group 1 winners last season including three-time Group 1 winner Mongolian Khan (Holy Roman Emperor). The Select Sale has 633 yearlings catalogued, selling from Wednesday 27 to Friday 29 January.

The FESTIVAL SALE had two Group 1 winners last season and will once again be a bumper one-day session with 298 yearlings to be offered on Sunday 31 January.

NZB’s National Yearling Sales Series continues to deliver results, having produced 21 Group 1 winners last season, the most of any Australasian auction house for the third consecutive year.

With just 21% of Australasia’s auctioned yearling crop going through the Karaka sale ring, NZB has sold 37% of Group 1 winning yearling graduates, more than any other sales company in Australasia over the past five seasons.

The Premier Sale is the jewel in the crown of Karaka 2016 and the catalogue is littered with international quality, featuring relations to world class racetrack stars including 131 siblings to stakes winners and 96 progeny of stakes winners.Select 230

NZB’s National Yearling Sales Series offers an extensive selection of sires, both proven and young sires, from across the world with 131 to be represented including 17 first season sires.

Among the 64 sires with progeny in Premier Sale are Bel Esprit, Bernadini, Cape Blanco, Choisir, Darci Brahma, Exceed and Excel, Fastnet Rock, Foxwedge, Frankel, High Chaparral, Iffraaj, Lonhro, Makfi, Ocean Park, O’Reilly, Pentire, Redoute’s Choice, Rip Van Winkle, Savabeel, Sebring, Snitzel, So You Think, Stratum, Tavistock, Teofilo and many more.

The new season has kicked off with a bang with six Group 1 races conquered by National Yearling Sales Series graduates to date.

The Melbourne Spring Carnival was particularly successful, underlined by Karaka graduate Prince of Penzance (NZ) (Pentire) winning the Group 1 Melbourne Cup and creating history with Michelle Payne aboard. He has a full-brother entered in the Premier Sale at Karaka 2016 at Lot 45.

Other graduates successful at Group 1 level this season include Kermadec (NZ) (Teofilo) after winning the Group 1 George Main Stakes, Mongolian Khan (Holy Roman Emperor) claiming victory  in his third Group 1 race in the Caulfield Cup, Preferment (NZ) (Zabeel) was successful in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes, Tarzino (NZ) (Tavistock) rose to great heights in the prestigious Group 1 Victoria Derby and Xtravagant (NZ) (Pentire) had a kiwi triumph in the Group 1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas.

These results are the most recent wave to be added to the over 100 Group 1 races won by NZB yearling graduates in the past five seasons.Festival 230
