Cora Lynn Flies Home in NZB Airfreight Stakes

The Mandy & Matt Brown trained Cora Lynn (NZ) has raced her way to a share of the lead in New Zealand Bloodstock's Southern Filly of the Year Series with a big win in the $50,000 Listed New Zealand Bloodstock Airfreight Stakes (1400m).

Cora Lynn (Golan x Coraletta) raced towards the back of the field for jockey Terry Moseley and found many lengths in the straight to run down break-away leader Ortem Fire (Gallant Guru) to win by half-a-head.

The second race in the four-race Southern Filly of the Year Series, the Listed Airfreight Stakes offered seven points to the winner, drawing Cora Lynn in line with Race 1 winner Kasumi on the points table.

A filly that now boasts three wins from her four raceday appearances, Cora Lynn won her first two starts in succession before coming into Saturday's Listed race after running second at Riccarton over 1400 metres.

Bred by Windsor Park Stud, Cora Lynn is raced by Ngapuke Racing Ltd & J L Scott.

Second placed Ortem Fire (NZ) (ex Emerald Fire) looked to have the race wrapped up at the 200 metres for trainers Brian & Shane Anderton as she raced well clear of the field with jockey Jay Misbah aboard, only to be run down in the final strides.

She carried her last start form into the race having run second in the Listed Southland Guineas and shares second place in the Series with New Zealand Oaks bound and Filly of the Year Series Leader Planet Rock (Fastnet Rock) on three points.

The John & Karen Parsons trained Arietta (NZ) (Falkirk x Prussian Doll) ran on well for third place after coming from the back of the field with race winner Cora Lynn. It was her first start over 1400 metres and she now shares third place in the Series with Classy Fashion on one point.
