Dominant Win For Ready to Run Sale Graduate Happy Agility (NZ)
25 October 2016
The calibre of horses sold at New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale, which swings into action for 2016 on November 16 and 17, was again showcased over the weekend when Happy Agility (NZ) (Postponed) scored a spectacular win in Sunday’s HK$840,000 HKJC Zenith Excellent Handicap at Sha Tin.
Ridden by Neil Callan for trainer Ricky Yiu, Happy Agility raced in third position before taking control in the straight and racing to victory by two and three-quarter lengths. He clocked 1:09.57 for the 1200-metre sprint.
The win was Happy Agility’s third from 16 starts and boosted his stakes earnings to HK$1.85 million for owners the Rotary Club of Sha Tin Syndicate.
Happy Agility was bred by Westbury Stud owner Gerry Harvey. Westbury Stud offered him at the 2013 Festival Sale, where he sold to John White Bloodstock for $45,000. The colt returned later that year for the Ready to Run Sale as part of the Diamond Lodge draft, and Ricky Yiu bought him for $220,000.
The result was part of a highly successful weekend for Ready to Run Sale graduates. He was one of two winners at Sunday’s Sha Tin meeting, while Hall Of Fame (NZ) (Savabeel) scored a Listed win at Riccarton on Saturday.
