Exciting Debut for First Season Sires at NZB Weanling Sale

Six exciting�young sires will be represented by their first crop of weanlings at the National Weanling, Broodmare and Mixed Bloodstock Sale at Karaka from 3 - 5 May.

The progeny of these first season sires make up 48 lots of the 463-strong catalogue of weanlings on offer.

Any Suggestion: Lion Hunter - Advisable (Regal Advice)

Any Suggestion is the Group 1 performing son of Australian champion first season sire of 2001-02, Lion Hunter (Danehill).

Any Suggestion won nine times up to 1200 metres, with his career-best effort finishing runner-up to the then world's top-ranked sprinter Miss Andretti in the Group 1 Australia Stakes. His dam, Advisable, is half-sister to Miss Suggestion, dam of the four-time Group 1 winner and Australian champion first season sire for 2005/2006 Show a Heart.

Cecconi: Encosta de Lago - Tonicity (Blazing Sword)

A son of Australia's Champion Sire Encosta de Lago, Cecconi won the Listed Blue Diamond Preview over 1000 metres as a juvenile. He trained on at three to place in the Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) and Group 2 Bill Stutt Stakes (1600m).

Cecconi is out of the dual stakes-winner Tonicity and closely related to the Group 1 Golden Slipper winning sire Stratum.

Great Britain: Green Desert - Park Appeal (Ahonoora)

Great Britain is a son of successful sire of sires Green Desert. Out of Group 1 winning mare Park Appeal (Ahonoora), Great Britain is full-brother to Group 1 winner Cape Cross who has sired the likes of the outstanding gallopers Ouija Board, Sea the Stars and Seachange.

Great Britain performed best over 1200-1400m and was a winner over 1400m on his debut at three, with his biggest victory in the Listed Al Quoz Sprint at Nad Al Sheba over 1200m.

Iffraaj: Zafonic - Pastorale (Nureyev)

By champion European two and three-year-old Zafonic, Iffraaj represents the successful Mr Prospector sire line. Iffraaj raced from two to five-years of age and won seven of 13 starts including three Group 2 races as well as being the highest rated speed horse of 2006 by Timeform.

Iffraaj is out of Pastorale, a half-sister to Cape Cross, and from the immediate family of champion older sprinter in Europe in 1999, Diktat.

Patapan: Stravinsky - Pappa Reale (Indian Ridge)

Joint champion older sprinter in Italy in 2006, Patapan is the winner of 16 races over six seasons including six wins as a two-year-old.

Patapan is by champion New Zealand sire of two-year-olds in 2005-06, Stravinsky, and out of champion Italian older mare in 1997 Pappa Reale. He has successful broodmare sire Indian Ridge as his damsire and is a half-brother to last year's Italian champion three-year-old sprinter, Per Incanto.

Thano: Southern Halo - Di Machine (Digression)

Thano is by the multiple-champion sire in Argentina in Southern Halo whose deeds in the Southern Hemisphere are more famous as the sire of More Than Ready.

The winner of the Group 1 Palermo G.P. General San Martin is from Di Machine (Digression), a three-quarter sister to triple Group 1 winner Di Escorpion, from the family of 2007 Dubai World Cup winner Invasor .
