Fascination Takes Her Own Street

Up and coming mare Fascination Street (NZ) (Elusive City) took a wide path to cruise to victory in the $50,000 Listed Windsor Park Stud Rotorua Stakes (1400m) at Rotorua on Saturday.

Adding black to her pedigree for the first time, Fascination Street has won two consecutive races after winning her last start in the Westbury Club 1200 at Auckland three weeks ago. Trained by Lance O’Sullivan and Andrew Scott, this is her fourth overall win with a further nine places.
“We thought her performance was very strong,” stated co-trainer Andrew Scott. “We thought the footing may have been too testing but fortunately Michael (Coleman) rode her really well and got her out to the widest part of the track where she got through the ground quite well – it was a strong performance.
“We will look to give her a quick break now as she has had quite a long season. She has done well, reward for effort, and we will assess her in the new season.”
Ridden by Michael Coleman, Fascination Street jumped to be behind mid-field but quickly made ground as the widest travelling horse, taking the lead off The Filly (NZ) (Ishiguru) on the turn for home.
Leading the field as they ran for home and taking a wide berth, Fascination Street was challenged by Platinum Witness (California Dane) but warded her off, digging deep and racing ahead for a one-and-a-half-length win over Platinum Witness and The Filly, who finished in second and third place respectively.
From a career of fifteen starts, the four-year-old mare has earned a total of $116,840 to date for owners of the Challenge No.1 Syndicate managed by Adrian Clark.
Challenge Racehorse Syndications purchased Fascination Street at the 2012 Karaka Select Sale for $34,000 from Lime Country Thoroughbreds.
Another Challenge Racehorse Syndicate horse Dancer’s Tale, a Listed winning two-year-old and last start winner, is catalogued in the NZB’s National Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale entered at Lot 403.
Bred by Lime Country Thoroughbreds, the daughter of Elusive City is a full-sister to Lamington Vegas (Elusive City), winner of the Listed Ryder Stakes. Her dam, Piece of Cake (Snippets), is a three-quarter-sister to the second runner in the HK-2 Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup Town of Fionn (Snippets).
