Festival Sale Graduate Wins Golden Horseshoe
9 July 2016
An outstanding win in Friday’s S$325,000 Sgp-2 Golden Horseshoe (1200m) at Kranji by Lim’s Racer (Stonedance) (NZ) (Red Giant), was a reminder of the quality of horseflesh available at the Festival session of New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sales Series.
Ridden by Danny Beasley for trainer Steven Burridge, Lim’s Racer went to war in the straight with another Karaka graduate, Caorunn (NZ) (Showcasing). It was Lim’s Racer who came out on top in a desperate battle, scoring by a neck.
The win was Lim’s Racer’s second from only three career starts.
“I thought the other horse (Caorunn) had her, she was headed twice, but she fought back like a real bulldog,” Burridge said.
“Both horses worked super on Saturday and tonight they both ran super again, but she drew the inside and she was able to hold out the other horse, who had every chance.
“We always knew she had talent.”
Lim’s Racer was bred by Westbury Stud owner Gerry Harvey, and Westbury offered her at the 2015 Festival Sale. She has now won more than S$214,000 (NZ$218,000) for owners Lim’s Stable.
Runner-up Caorunn, formerly trained in Cambridge by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, was offered by Longlands Stud at the 2015 Select Sale and sold for $60,000.
