Filly of the Year Series

The Hawke's Bay meeting will also play host to the first leg of New Zealand Bloodstock's prestigious Filly of the Year Series with the running of the $50,000 Group 3 Highview Stakes (1200m).

The Highview Stakes is renowned for attracting a quality field with past winners including the likes of last year's ill-fated Filly of the Year Series victor, Taatletail (Faltaat x Defensive Lady). The talented Rogerson/Autridge trained filly went on to win four races of the ten-leg series and fend off some tough competition to be crowned New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year for 2004.

The second leg for the Filly of the Year Series, the $45,000 Group 3 Indian Danehill Lowland Stakes, will be held in three weeks time on 9 October at Masterton Racing Club.
