Karaka 2010 marks the introduction of twenty-four first season sires represented by their first crop at New Zealand Bloodstock's National Yearling Sales.
The progeny of these sires make up 287� lots of the 1621 catalogued for Karaka 2010, all of which will be highly anticipated by buyers seeking to find the next successful progenitor amongst the sire ranks.

Ad Valorem: Danzig - Classy Women (Relaunch)

By outstanding sire of sires Danzig, Ad Valorem, among his four wins, won the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes (1200m) as a two-year-old and the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes (1600m) as a four-year-old. His dam Classy Women also won on four occasions including a Group 3 win and a Group 1 placing in the Test Stakes. Ad Valorem stood at Darley for $11,000 in 2009.

Aussie Rules stood at Coolmore Australia in 2009 for $8,800.

California Dane is one of the fastest sons of world champion sire Danehill. The winner of six of thirteen races including the Group 2 Stanley Wootton Stakes (1200m) and the Group 2 Moir Stakes which are both staged at Moonee Valley where he broke the track record for 1200m. Out of a Seattle Slew mare, California Dane is from a superb international family which includes leading sires Broad Brush and Capote. California Dane stood at Baerami Thoroughbreds in 2009 for $13,750.

A brilliant two-year-old who placed in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m), Churchill Downs trained on to win the Group 2 Bill Stutt Stakes (1600m) at three and place in the Group 1 Ascot Vale Stakes (1200m) behind Gold Edition. Churchill Downs represents the same Danehill/Sharpen Up cross as Danehill Dancer being out of a Diesis mare. In 2009 Churchill Downs stood at Blue Gum Farm for $8,800.

Precocious at two, Danger Looms won the Group 2 VRC Sires Produce Stakes and Group 3 Blue Diamond Preview before running fourth in the Group 3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude in his classic year. Danger Looms is by Dangerous, a son of Danehill from the Eight Carat family who himself was Group 1 placed at two. Danger Looms stood for $2,500 at Ashford Park Stud in 2009.

The highest priced yearling of his generation at Karaka, Darci Brahma had looks which commanded $1.1 million dollars in the sales ring.
