Frozone Takes Deserved Black-Type Win
27 June 2011
The Reset gelding Frozone raced his way to his seventh win and first black-type success at Eagle Farm on Saturday in the Listed Tattersalls Racing Club Mile (1600m).
Boasting a strong course and distance record with six wins from 27 starts for his trainer Alan Bailey, Frozone (NZ) (Reset x Ice Maiden) had good support in the market and was ridden well by jockey Scott Seamer to a three-quarter-of-a-length win.
Frozone is no stranger to stakes races running second in the Listed Ipswich and Grafton Cups and third in the Strawberry Road Handicap.
From a performing family, Frozone is from the O'Reilly mare Ice Maiden and is a half-brother to the tough three-year-old Icepin (Pins), winner of the Group 2 Avondale Guineas and Group 3 Taranaki 2YO Classic. O'Reilly is having another outstanding season and is now the broodmare sire of 13 stakes winners including Group 1 winners Daffodil and The Pooka.
Frozone was bred by Garry Chittick and was purchased by Bailey Racing Australia at the 2007 Karaka Premier Sale for $200,000. He has now won over A$315,000 in stakes.
