Joy and Fun for Hong Kong Owners

Mr & Mrs Johnny Wong Chun Nam have had plenty of fun with the three-year-old gelding Joy and Fun (Cullen x Gin Player) this season. His win in the feature race at Sha Tin last night provided the fifth win on the card for New Zealand Bloodstock graduates.
It was not all plain sailing in the Class 2 HK$1,000,000 Derby Restaurant & Bar Handicap (1400m) as Joy and Fun had to overcome a check mid-race which saw him drift back from his handy position. However, Felix Coetzee was able to produce the horse down the straight to win by half a length from Horace's Choice with fellow New Zealand bred Regency Dragon (D'Cash x Bemuze) a further quarter of a length back in third after Kindacross (Cape Cross x Kindness) had set the pace for much of the race.
Joy and Fun has now had five wins and three seconds from nine starts this season and HK$2,136,600 in stakemoney.
He was bred by Scott Williams�and was purchased as a weanling, by New Zealand Bloodstock (as agent), for $15,000 at the 2004 National Broodmare and Weanling Sale from Java Lodge.
Gin Player (by Defensive Play) has been a successful broodmare at stud, producing two other winners including Group 2 Avondale JC Concorde Handicap winner, Run Like the Wind (by Pins), and Zarita (by Pentire). Her yearling colt by Spartacus was purchased by New Zealand Bloodstock (as agent) for NZ$180,000 from Rich Hill Stud at this year's Karaka Premier Sale.
The other winning Karaka graduates on the card were: Cosmo Successor (My Halo x Carnival), Dash (Towkay x I'm Tess), Show Bravely (Barathea x La Mystique) and Packing Angel (Zabeel x Plans Awry).
