NZB Castletown Stakes Provides Second Listed Win for Chartreuse
6 June 2006
Classy filly Chartreuse (St Petersburg x Imzadi) cruised to victory in the Listed New Zealand Bloodstock Castletown Stakes (1200m) at Foxton on Monday.
Trained by Graeme Rogerson and Stephen Autridge, the Pencarrow Stud bred filly was hand-picked by Autridge's wife Lynley, who bought her for NZ$3,500 at the 2005 Karaka Festival Yearling Sale.
A length behind Chartreuse was Murray Baker's Pinot Grigio (O'Reilly x Chablis) while John Sargent's Tappy (Sandtrap x Bobbly Lee) was a further four and a half lengths behind.
The Listed race was the penultimate event in New Zealand Bloodstock's extensive list of 34 race sponsorships this season. Included in the list of sponsorships are four Group 1 races with the New Zealand Bloodstock New Zealand Oaks, the New Zealand Bloodstock 1000 Guineas, the New Zealand Bloodstock Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes and the New Zealand Bloodstock Avondale Gold Cup.
The last of New Zealand Bloodstock's sponsorships for the season will be Opunake Racing Club's New Zealand Bloodstock Leasing & Finance 3YO on Saturday July 22.
