Talented Two-Year-Olds in NZB Castletown Stakes

5 June 2006

Sixteen two-year-olds will vie for black type in the $30,000 Listed New Zealand Bloodstock Castletown Stakes over 1200 metres on today. To be run at Foxton, the race is the penultimate in New Zealand Bloodstock's extensive sponsorship drive this season.

A host of New Zealand's top trainers including Graeme Rogerson and Stephen Autridge, Stephen and Trevor McKee, Murray Baker, John Sargent, Richard Yuill and Mike and Paul Moroney have exciting new prospects lining up.

Headlining the talented field is last start Listed New Zealand Bloodstock 2YO Fillies Stakes (1200m) winner, Chartreuse (St Petersburg x Imzadi). The Rogerson/Autridge Stable retain Micheal Walker as the rider.

Chartreuse was hand picked by part owner Lynley Autridge, who paid NZ$3,500 for the Pencarrow Stud bred filly, at last year's Karaka Festival Sale.

The field also boasts three last start winners including the Sargent trained Tappy (Sandtrap x Bobbly Lee) and debut victors Surreptitious (O'Reilly x Vaguely Sneeky) and Little Einstein (Centaine x Sriwijaya).

Fairdale Stud's resident stallion Hawbaddouwantit has three of his progeny lining up including Mr Jubilee (Howbaddouwantit x Mi Steel), brother to last season's top two-year-old filly and Group 1 winner, Mi Jubilee. Trained by Stephen Crutchley, Mr Jubilee will line with stable-mate Mels Bad Boy ( Howbaddouwantit x Cala Mel). Both are yet to run in the money.

After a second on debut, Needuask (Howbaddouwantit x Sky Mist) represents Richard Yuill's stable.

The rest of the field is made up by Pinot Grigio (O'Reilly x Chablis), Figueres (Star Way x Figurante), All My Colours (Honours List x What a Rainbow), Biggles (Bertolini x Shahzamani), One Hita Quita (Monolith x Royal Fashion), Bellamour (Lord Ballina x Amour), Cosmo Love (Shinko King x Sent to War), Ditto (Anziyan x Ina McGowan), and debut starter, La Joy (Rossini x Fiorella).
