Successful NZB Breeze Ups Completed at Te Rapa

The Breeze Ups for New Zealand Bloodstock's Ready to Run Sale were completed today, with a total of 375 well educated youngsters filmed and timed over the final 200 metres of the Te Rapa Straight.

Waikato Racing Club's track recorded a Slow 8 on Monday with the fine weather drying it out to be rated a Dead 6 today.

Phoenix Park entrants, Lot 19 and Lot 155, galloped together to record the fastest time of the two days at 10.42 seconds.

Lot 155 is a bay gelding from the first Southern Hemisphere crop of Footstepsinthesand out of the Sadler's Wells mare Passing Hope.� Footstepsinthesand won twice as a juvenile including the Group 3 Leopardstown Killavullan Stakes before winning the Group 1 Two Thousand Guineas at three.

The unraced mare Passing Hope has produced three to race for two winners to date and is a half-sister to two stakes winners. Sadler's Wells is the damsire of 32 Group 1 winners including the likes of Divine Proportions, Henrythenavigator, Whipper, Peeping Fawn and Serenade Rose.

Lot 19 is a chestnut gelding by Strategic from the Dr Grace mare Herbal. �He, along with 40 other entrants in the Sale, is eligible to compete for a spot in the Karaka Million on 25 January.

Owned by Janine Dunlop, Phoenix Park has assembled a draft of 19 for the forthcoming Sale.

Charisse Lodge's Lot 42 also provided one of the faster times, at just 10.45 seconds. The bay gelding is by Keeper and from the Rory's Jester mare Join the Fun.

Clocking in at 10.52 seconds, was Regal Farm's Lot 126. The brown colt by Golan is from the unraced Soviet Star mare Natasha and from the family of the Group 1 winning Star Way mares Nimue and Smiling Like.

Another speedy Regal Farm entrant was Lot 365 who eased in at 10.54 seconds. The chestnut colt is by Captain Rio, the sire of the reigning Mercedes 2YO, Il Quello Veloce, and from the winning Geiger Counter mare, Count the Steps.

Haunui Farm's Bertolini gelding at Lot 332 breezed up in 10.61 seconds. His dam, Biare is a half-sister to the dam of Group 1 Queensland Oaks and Queensland Derby winner Riva San.

Two Zabeel colts on account of Mana Park impressed with their heat, Lot 29 clocking in at 10.66 and Lot 363 at 10.69. Four other lots by Cambridge Stud's champion sire are entered in the Sale.

Another heat which caught the eye came with Lot 110, the Van Nistelrooy filly from Miss Rory, a half-sister to the dual Group 1 winning juvenile Jokers Wild (Black Minnaloushe) matching Lot 173, the High Chaparral gelding from Proteaceae. Both are prepared by Blyth Tait's Chesterfields operation with Lot 110 crossing the line in 10.89 while the High Chaparral finished in 10.90.

By the former Windsor Park Stud sire Kaapstad, Proteaceae is the dam of the successful stakes-performed Hong Kong gallopers Palette Natural (Volksraad) and Win Practitioner (O'Reilly).

Day One's fastest time came from Esker Lodge's Lot 62, the Red Ransom colt who streaked down to record a time of 10.66 seconds. He's from the half-sister to starry gallopers Elvstroem and Haradasun in Lady Circles.

Lot 346, a bay colt by Pins on account of Tuatahi Farm, provided yesterday's second fastest time at 10.68 seconds. He's from the Centaine mare Centaforce and is from the family of nine-time Group 1 winner Super Impose (Imposing) and Group 1 ARC Zabeel Classic victor Mikki Street (Cape Cross).
