Sydney Stakes Success for Dances on Stars (NZ)
The successful run for trainer Gerald Ryan and the progeny of his former track star Snitzel continued at Randwick on Saturday with two-year-old Dances On Stars (NZ) winning the A$125,000 Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m).
Ridden by Glyn Schofield, Dances On Stars (Snitzel x Starnet) jumped well and improved to race in third place on the rail. Taking the lead at the 250 metre mark, the colt kept the race favourite Agueda (General Nediym) at bay to win by just shy of half a length.
The colt came into his third career start on Saturday fresh up after a five month break from the races, securing the first win of his short career.
Bred by the Hong Kong Breeders Club at Brent Gillovic's Highview Stud in Hamilton, Dances on Stars had two starts earlier in the season, including a second on debut at Rosehill in early November to Meidung (Bernardini) who subsequently ran third to Samaready (More Than Ready) and Hussousa (Husson)in the Group 2 Reisling Stakes.
Dances On Stars was purchased by Dynamic Syndications from Highview at New Zealand Bloodstock's 2011 Karaka Premier Sale for $95,000. Raced by Mr B P Mullins, Ms D R Keegan, Mr P R Glenister and Mrs P A Glenister the colt has now won over A$90,000 in stakes.
Trainer Gerald Ryan has registered strong success with the progeny of Snitzel, who he trained to win the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate, headlined by Snitzerland who won the Group 3 Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes in March before running second in the Group 1 Golden Slipper last weekend.
