The Justice League (NZ) Back to Best with Strong Guineas Win
20 March 2016
High-class three-year-old The Justice League (NZ) (I Am Invincible) was right back to his best when he won the $100,000 Group 2 Go Racing Syndications Wellington Guineas (1400m) at Trentham on Saturday.
The Pukekohe gelding was handy throughout the 1400-metre contest for rider Lee Tiley, then took charge in the home straight with a powerful burst. Glorious Beijing (NZ) (Per Incanto) came at him with a bold finish inside the last 200 metres, but The Justice League was too strong and too good. He held on to win by a long neck.
“Finally he’s put it together,” trainer Nigel Tiley said. “That’s the first time he’s had a trouble-free race for quite some time. I know he’s a very good horse. He’s a hard horse to get past.”
A son of the Peintre Celebre mare L’Artiste, The Justice League was bred by Dan Myers. He is a half-sister to the Group 2 performer Vive La Difference.
Purchased for $50,000 from the 2014 Select Sale, The Justice League has now earned $122,675 for his owners Lee and Nigel Tiley, Mandy Rutherford, Richard and Sheena Cole and Kerry and Diana Verner.
This was The Justice League’s second stakes win, having also claimed the Listed Northland Breeders’ Stakes last September.
