Timely Updates for Sunday's Autumn Mixed Bloodstock Sale

18 April 2007

With the Autumn Mixed Bloodstock Sale at Karaka just days away, recent racetrack performances have provided timely updates to some of the 206 entries in the catalogue. Set for selling from 11am on Sunday 22 April, the sale comprises weanlings, yearlings, two-year-olds, unraced horses, racehorses and broodmares.

Significant updates since the catalogue went to print include:

  • Lot 142, Herron Bay, by Wallenda ex Dalmator: this mare is related to the consistent galloper Crusoe (Volksraad x Caserio), who was second behind Royal Admiral in the Listed S$3million QEII Cup (2000m) in Singapore on Sunday.
  • Lot 156, Lady Tryphina, by Danasinga ex Logical Miss: the mare is a close relative to the consistent juvenile Alamosa (O'Reilly x Lodore Mystic) who proved that his win in the Group 1 Ford Diamond Stakes (1200m) was no fluke with a third placing in the only other elite two-year-old race of the season, the Ford Manawatu Sires Produce Stakes (1400m).
  • Lot 158, Leander, by Tights ex Liefkin: the mare is a half-sister to Dare, the dam of recent listed STC Maurice McCarten Stakes (1200m) winner, Double Dare (by O'Reilly), trained by New Zealand expat, Chris Waller.

Also in the sale are entries related to the recent black type performers Black Ink, High Cee, Pinmdown, Stickpin, Thee Auld Hussie and to the recent Caulfield winner Bashful.

There are several full and half-siblings to catalogue entries which have performed on the track since the catalogue went to print, including:

  • Lot 4, a weanling by Woodbury Lad ex Beyond the Realm: his half-brother, Big is Best (by Val d'Arno), has now won two races in the United States.
  • Lot 24, a yearling by Kashani ex Diamond Lady: her full-sister, Viscaya, is now a race winner.
  • Lot 43, the yearling by Align ex Racing Honour: her full-sister, Stirring, now has two wins in Australia. The filly is also related to Martiniforus (by Fuji Kiseki), the John Hawkes-trained galloper who has strung together a Group 3 placing and a win in Sydney. Other entries in the sale related to Martiniforus are Lot 137 and Lot 145. Both mares will be offered by Highview Stud and are half-sisters to Palace Fashion, the dam of Martiniforus.
  • Lot 48, the yearling by Kilimanjaro ex Starlet: his half-brother Shooting Fish (by Align) is a winner in Australia.
  • Lot 98, America by Green Perfume ex Kansas City: the mare is a full-sister to Jaca Rema, now the winner of four races.
  • Lot 119, Coco Hoi, by Zabeel x Lyphard's Reve: the mare is a half-sister to Coup Wellington (by Cape Cross) who won again at Riccarton.

Broodmares with recent performers on the racetrack include:

  • Lot 126, Danza Jig by Danzatore ex Jig Jig: her three-year-old Al Nader (by Sandtrap) has won in Singapore.
  • Lot 128 Don't Cry for Me, by Citidancer ex Stuck Up: her gelding Sandelli (by Sandtrap) scored his second victory in Singapore.
  • Lot 187 Sew Straight, by Straight Strike ex Embroidered: her three-year-old Kingtrap (by Sandtrap) is another recent winner in Singapore.
  • Lot 205 Ubiquity, by Lucky Ring ex Show Ego: this mare was represented by Bertquity (by Bertolini) who cleared maiden ranks recently in New Zealand.
