Smart kiwi bred filly You’re So Good (NZ) has booked her ticket to the Sydney Carnival with a comfortable win in Friday night’s A$120,000 Schweppes Alexandra Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley.

Runner-up to fellow Karaka graduate Ferlax (Pentire) at her last start in the Group 1 Australian Guineas, You’re So Good (Savabeel x Lightning Spur) was backed into $1.90 for Friday night’s race and duly saluted in a strong front-running performance, winning by a length-and-a-half under jockey Vlad Duric.

You’re So Good now heads to the
Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes

The daughter of Savabeel has turned heads in her short career with the win her second from only five starts. She has never finished further back than second and that includes her Group 1 Guineas placing and her second in the Group 3 Vanity Stakes at her third appearance.

Her trainer Nigel Blackiston was impressed with the victory and is keen to test the three-year-old against the best and will now take her to the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) in Sydney on 6 April. The Group 1 Australian Oaks is also being considered.

New Zealand will be well represented in the Vinery Stud Stakes as the Group 1 NZ Derby winner Habibi (NZ) (Ekraar) will also contest that race as well as the Australian Oaks.

You’re So Good was bred by Celia Crawshaw and was purchased by Spicer Thoroughbreds & Sheamus Mills Bloodstock from Waikato Stud at New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2011 Karaka Premier Sale for $80,000.

She is raced by Mr M Ramunno, Mr J Clark, Mr C Page, Mrs R Allen, Mr J Recchia, Mr F Capuzzi, Mr S J Fogarty, Mrs L Pitcher, Mr P Renwick and Mr P D Guy and has now won A$216,300.

You’re so Good is the 24th stakes winner for her sire Savabeel who stands at Waikato Stud. Savabeel’s progeny have had a great few weeks on the track with performers such as Sangster winning the Group 1 Auckland Cup, Diademe winning the Group 3 Westbury Stud Classic and Nandowra taking the Sgp-3 Poly Track Mile Championship.
